Originally an idea out of Sweden, Vision Zero‘s overarching motto is that one traffic-related death is too many. The movement is now international and it is empowering people around the world to come together and make it clear that traffic deaths and injuries are preventable; therefore, none are acceptable.
In Portland, Oregon, where Nutcase is headquartered, we have a bold goal to eliminate all traffic deaths and serious injuries on our streets by 2025. The Vision Zero Task Force, comprised of advocates for safer streets, has overseen the creation of a draft Vision Zero Action Plan. This draft plan will go to Portland’s City Council for approval today at 3 p.m.
If you are in the city, we encourage you to consider joining the gathering at City hall and supporting the Vision Zero plan to provide streets for everyone, protect the most vulnerable, teach Portlanders to live and travel together, and enforce safe behavior on our streets.
